Cassia nomame also named Nomame herba, Mimosoides tea, Fish bone cassia, Artillery plant, and Five-leaf cassia (Australia) belongs to the family Fabaceae (Pea), with its botanical names Cassia nomame L., or Cassia nomame (Sieb.) Kitagawa, or Cassia nomame(Sieb)Honda, or Cassia mimosoides L. var. nomame Makino, or Chamaecrista mimosoides (L.) Greene, or Cassia mimosoides L. It is native to the South Africa, with a wide habitat allover the world's tropic and subtropical areas, including China and East Asia.
Cassia Nomame grows wild in parts of China, Southeast Asia, India and South America. According to traditional Chinese Medicines theory, it has the properties as clearing the liver, brightening the eyes, treating dizziness, night blindness, migraine, edema, beriberi, jaundice, and etc. Its leaves are also been used as a supplement of tea.
