Propolis is a gelatinous substance made from the resin collected by bees from the buds and bark of plants, mixed with secretions from the glands of bees such as the tongue and wax glands, and transformed by bees.
Because propolis contains flavonoids, phenols, lactones, aldehydes, ketones, steroids and other compounds, it is non-toxic, non-irritating, non-carcinogenic and has antibacterial, anti-viral, immune stimulating, analgesic and tissue regenerating properties, so propolis is known as "purple gold".
